The Emerging Scholars After School Program

FOS and Shanklin ES are preparing to launch the Emerging Scholars program--intense after school tutoring--for students to gain grade level proficiency standards and pass state tests. Targeted instruction and practice & reinforcement will provide the supports necessary to improve conceptual understanding and make gains for success.

Co-funded by the school and FOS through a grant from 100 Women Who Care make this an exciting endeavor!

100 Women Who Care: Presentation of Grant
Laura Riski, Leader of 100 Women Who Care presents grant award to Vicki Fornasar, FOS, 5/16/2024

We are thrilled to partner with JSES to plan and provide a 3-pronged approach to their Emerging Scholars Afterschool Program. Teachers will provide group instruction for students nearing proficiency. FOS will utilize one-on-one volunteers to tutor struggling students. FOS will also have a database of volunteers willing to share their expertise in the arts, business, professional, or sports areas with visual & hands-on presentations to enhance student understanding.

This generous grant from 100 Women Who Care will help support instruction and student learning. FOS thanks each woman for her contribution--it goes to a worthy educational endeavor and we can't wait to show you confident, capable scholars who have gained skills and knowledge!
