Positively Impacting Shanklin Students

Through the many initiatives sponsored or supported by Friends of Shanklin, students are able to expand their learning and experiences.

• Annual Leadership Awards recognize students who excel at displaying the "Leader In Me" attributes at the core of Shanklin's philosophy

• Annual book giveaway provides students with a chance to receive a book that is their own as an encouragement for them to read and make reading a regular part of their lives.

• Volunteer efforts help students to work and develop skills in reading and mathematics.  Spanning all grades and all proficiency levels, Habersham-based tutors assist students.

• Experience Fund trips provide an alignment with the curriculum being taught and an exposure to life beyond the world the students know in Burton, SC.

• Helping to cultivate learning tools, like the Science Garden, provide another avenue for students to apply and improve their understanding of concepts taught in the classroom.

• Supporting participation in cultural activities, like the Shanklin choir, provide another outlet for student learning and engagement.
